Micah Richards and Gary Lineker share if they think Leeds United can still finish in second place
After last Friday’s 2-0 loss to QPR, Micah Richards and Gary Lineker have talked about whether they believe Leeds United can still place second in the Championship.
Before the match on Friday, Leeds had the opportunity to put Ipswich Town under pressure. the chance to defeat a QPR team that is in danger of relegation and move four points clear of Kieran McKenna’s team at Loftus Road.
But in a strange turn of events, Marti Cifuentes’ team defeated Daniel Farke’s team 4-0, maybe the best performance of the season. Leeds appeared worn out and unable to handle the pressure of getting promoted.
Ipswich wasted the opportunity to move up to second place in the standings after the loss, drawing 3–3 with Hull on Saturday instead of overtaking Leeds. Ipswich still has a game remaining against Leeds when they play Coventry.
Everybody will be watching Tuesday when McKenna’s team travels to Coventry and, should they win, advances past Leeds. Leeds will need to defeat Southampton on Saturday in order to hold onto second place if Ipswich loses.

Richards and Lineker believe that the Yorkshire club is no longer in contention for second place. What they said was as follows:
Lineker and Richards on Leeds’ chances of finishing in second
“I feel a bit for Leeds fans because I know what it’s been like for Leicester,” Lineker remarked, expressing pity for the Whites. It’s imperative to return to the Premier League, and Ipswich are currently the favorites to achieve it.
It appears as though Leeds could make it to the playoffs. Micah’s head droops to the floor,” he said. “Don’t want playoffs,” Richards retorted. In the postseason, everything is possible. It’s terrible. So near, yet so far away.
Do Leeds stand any chance of finishing in second place
Tuesday night’s road game between McKenna’s Ipswich and Coventry has everyone’s attention. Ahead of the last weekend of the Championship season, Ipswich will pass Leeds into second place if they manage to avoid defeat.
However, Ipswich advances above Leeds if they win or draw. Although Coventry is a strong team, they are not in the running for the play-offs and have nothing to lose. But as Man United can attest, they can push anyone very far.
In the rematch, Ipswich defeated Coventry, but the score was only 2-1 at Portman Road. There’s a chance the team led by Mark Robins wins. If that’s the case, Leeds must defeat Southampton on Saturday at Elland Road.
