Borussia Dortmund is preparing a signing offer for Ian Maatsen.
Borussia Dortmund are set to accelerate their efforts to sign Ian Maatsen, with the left-back keen on the switch.
According to Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund are formulating an offer to sign Ian Maatsen as quickly as possible. The Bundesliga giants will open talks after the Champions League final and will try to get Chelsea to reduce their €35 million asking price for their academy graduate.
Borussia Dortmund to make Ian Maatsen offer?
Borussia Dortmund’s season is about to end once they play the Champions League final against Real Madrid. After the big Wembley showdown, the club will have critical decisions to make ahead of the summer, and one of those involves the transfer of Ian Maatsen.
Since joining BVB on loan during the January transfer window, the €35 million-rated Chelsea youth graduate has established himself as a vital player for Edin Terzic’s team.
Maatsen, meantime, is eager to quit Chelsea this summer because he believes he has no place in the Stamford Bridge project.
Borussia Dortmund will begin negotiations to try to reduce Maatsen’s contract’s €35 million release clause with the Premier League’s biggest clubs, but Chelsea is reportedly holding out for that amount. As things stand, the Black and Yellows consider the Dutchman to be their first summer signing and are eager to have him as soon as possible.
Maatsen’s intention to make the relocation permanent will undoubtedly influence the course of events and facilitate BVB’s work. Even €35 million would seem reasonable given Maatsen’s potential, even though the Bundesliga’s biggest clubs aren’t typically known for paying top dollar for players.
Chelsea will sell its academy players.
Chelsea might have avoided PSR responsibilities by offloading some of their holdings. However, they may still wish to sell some of their academy graduates in order to free up more money for transfers. Maatsen, for example, might likely get rid of players like Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher, and Trevoh Chalobah.
The latter has been among their best players this year, but Chelsea may have to make a decision on his contract
