Following Aston Villa’s loss, Pep Guardiola confirms John Stones’ blow and laments the team’s injury crisis, revealing the “solution” to Man City’s problems.
At Villa Park on Saturday, City lost for the ninth time in 12 games across all competitions. After failing to win any points yet again, manager Guardiola made a dejected face, but the Spaniard claimed that when their injury list gets smaller, things will get better. In fact, due to a recurrence of an earlier injury, defender John Stones was unable to return for the second half.
PEP GUARDIOLA’S COMMENTS It can come or it can’t come,” he said on BBC Match of the Day. It is up to us. Restoring the players is the answer. It’s challenging that we just have one central defender fit. We don’t think much beyond that; we’re going to try the next game—another chance.”
Regarding Stones’ injury, he said to TNT Sports: “We had a great first half, but we struggled in the second. John [Stones] was unable to continue, so we modified our pressing. Keep going, Aston Villa, and congratulations.
