Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports provided an update on Newcastle’s ongoing efforts to recruit Lloyd Kelly, stating that a deal isn’t finalized just yet.
Kelly ‘will join Newcastle player at the beginning of July,’ according to Fabrizio Romano following his official release from Bournemouth today. However, Sky reports that there is now ‘no full agreement’ and that Atletico Madrid and Roma are expressing rival interest.
Sheth does say that talks on Kelly’s potential move to St. James’ Park have reached a “advanced stage.” With Chelsea having beat us to a deal for Tosin Adarabioyo last week, let’s hope that everything goes as planned and no late offer scuttles a deal,
especially considering that last week, Chelsea beat us to a deal for Tosin Adarabioyo.
If Kelly, 25, does end up at Newcastle, he will be rejoined by Eddie Howe, who brought him to Bournemouth in 2019.
Though he might not be a household name or a standout addition to our team, Howe will be drawn to his versatility as a left-back and center-back, where he might cover for the injured Sven Botman.
