The 21-year-old suffered a knee knock in Tottenham’s win over Brighton on 10 February and missed the subsequent match.

However, a report in the Evening Standard earlier this week claimed that Udogie would almost certainly be back.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou said he was in with a chance of returning. Hopefully he was downplaying it, maybe just a case of him not wanting to give the game away.

It would be great to see Udogie back in the XI today, as he’s such a crucial player for Spurs.

Although Ben Davies did well enough at left-back last time out, Udogie is quicker and a stronger dribbler.

This makes him him a better fit for that position in Postecoglou’s system.

It’s staggering to think Udogie is just 21 and this is his maiden season at Tottenham. Already he’s been winning the highest plaudits from figures in and around Spurs.

“He’s not simply one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, but also the world,” Guglielmo Vicario recently said.

“He’s only 21, so he must have the drive inside him to improve day-by-day – I try to push him.

“He is a very good lad, an unbelievable player, and he has all the qualities to reach the top.

“He’s quick, he has superb technique, he’s a good defender and attacker… he has everything.”
