Callum Olusesi, a Manchester United target, signs a professional contract with Tottenham Hotspur

Callum Olusesi was a long-term target for Manchester United, but it appears he committed his future to his current team, Tottenham Hotspur.

Since last spring, when The Peoples Person reported that Premier League teams like Manchester United, Newcastle United, Leeds United, and Brighton were all interested in the versatile midfielder, the Red Devils have been following the player closely.

According to transfermarkt.com, the London-born prospect has made an impression at the youth level. He has participated in 18 games in the FA Youth Cup and the under-18 Premier League.

This season, the teenage sensation has eight goals and four assists across all competitions. Yaya Toure, a former midfielder for Manchester City and Barcelona who coached Olusesi’s under-16 team at Spurs, has even been compared to him.

With two goals in his seven appearances, the 17-year-old has also established himself as a mainstay for the England Under-17 squad.

Even so, it appears that the young player will probably continue his football education at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after restraining himself from joining a rival, despite the fact that numerous clubs are vying for his services.

Football Insider claims to have heard from sources that “Tottenham midfield sensation Callum Olusesi has signed a professional contract despite long-term interest from rivals led by Man United,” contradicting their initial report that the player was of interest to United.

Tottenham moved to ward off that interest by offering the teenager a full-time scholarship deal and have now secured his future by tying him down to pro terms. It is believed that club chiefs at Spurs view the teenager as a “star in the making.”

The North London club has not, however, made an official announcement regarding the agreement.

The Red Devils have recently encountered frustration on several occasions when attempting to pry outstanding players from other academies. Chris Rigg looks certain to stay at Sunderland, so it seems their attempts to wrest him away from the club have failed. In addition, Leeds United recently announced the signing of Archie Gray, another gifted young player they have been following.
