Wolves close to signing ‘outstanding’ long-term Leeds target, almost joined under Marcelo Bielsa…
Wolverhampton Wanderers are getting close to acquiring a striker who was almost signed by Marcelo Bielsa and has been linked to Leeds United for a while.
After a successful Premier League season at Molineux, manager Gary O’Neil is looking to add some additional firepower in the final third and is planning to attack early. Wolves are in the market for a striker.
Given Joel Piroe’s uncertain form, Leeds might also be looking to add a new striker. In spite of this, Piroe issued a rallying cry to supporters on Instagram on Wednesday, just before the second leg of the semifinal.
Although Patrick Bamford has occasionally shown promise and is unquestionably important to this Leeds team, his injury issues are still a concern. Mateo Joseph has a lot of potential, but right now it might be for the future.
The Scotland and Southampton player Che Adams, whose contract is set to expire, has been linked to the Whites as a summer transfer. The Whites are expected to be in the market for a striker.
Prior to the summer window, Leeds is rumored to be interested in
Wolves gaining ground on Leeds’s long-term objective Che Adams Adams has had a fantastic season for Russell Martin’s Southampton this year, leading the Saints to 17 goals and dishing out six assists as they aim to defeat Leeds in the play-offs and make a trip back to the Premier League.
However, considering his contractual condition, his long-term future is uncertain. It was thought that his promotion will decide whether or not he inks a new contract at St. Mary’s, but current sources indicate he is expected to sign with Wolves.
Ben Jacobs affirmed X’s reports that Wolves are in advanced negotiations to sign the attacker on a free transfer from Southampton. Adams is battling to be fit for Friday’s second-leg match against West Brom.
“Wolves are in advanced talks with Che Adams,” his caption stated. Next month, Adams’ Southampton contract will expire, therefore Wolves are searching for affordable ways to bolster their assault.
Leeds almost signed Adams while Marcelo Bielsa was manager
Over the past few years, Adams and Leeds have been frequently linked. Victor Orta came close to signing the star in January 2020, six months after the “outstanding” Adams relocated to Southampton.
“I have a player that the second week of December is really available for us, near to closing (the deal), and in January not available because he gave an assist against Leicester,” Orta stated to the Scouting Hub in 2020.
It is unclear if Adams is actually joining Wolves at this crucial juncture for Southampton, but considering his contractual circumstances, it is not implausible that he could be on the verge of joining Gary O’Neil’s team.
