Man United submit £50.7m bid to sign Eveton star Amadou Onana, personal terms also offered
According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United has made a £50.7 million approach to buy Everton star Amadou Onana.
Although Barcelona is a huge fan of the 22-year-old Belgium international, a deal for them would be “extremely difficult” given what Man United is proposing, according to a story in the Spanish newspaper on Sunday, June 23, page three.
It is said that the Red Devils have made Onana an offer of generous personal terms in addition to an upfront payment of £46.4 million, with add-ons to make up the remaining amount of their proposal.
Will Everton sell Amadou Onana?
Due to PSR concerns, Everton needs to generate some revenue by the end of June.
Man United had already placed a bid for Jarrad Branthwaite, who has garnered a lot of interest [Liverpool Echo].
He is Goodison Park’s golden boy, though, and he might be an important member of the team for many years to come.
Onana belongs in the same group, but as he’s previously experienced the big time with Belgium at Euro 2024, he’s more likely to be sold one.
As a young Belgian midfielder, Onana is coveted by both Barcelona and Manchester United and is unlikely to establish a strong bond with Everton.
Big clubs are undoubtedly keeping an eye on Branthwaite, but as he has stronger emotional ties to the Toffees than Onana, it may be simpler to keep him happy.
Though it’s just conjecture, it seems improbable that Everton would want to hold onto Branthwaite over Onana because the latter is simply more replaceable.
Before the 2024–2025 season begins, sell Onana before June 30th, resolve the PSR concerns, hold onto Branthwaite, and then give Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell time to make additional acquisitions.
