Charlton Athletic: Nathan Jones could look to Mansfield Town to solve issue this summer: View
Under Nathan Jones, Charlton has gone on an incredible unbeaten streak, avoiding relegation while putting a strong defensive emphasis first.
Keillor-Dunn is a desirable target for Charlton to bolster their midfield in the midst of departures due to his outstanding performance at Mansfield.
Given that Charlton is planning to add midfield reinforcements, Keillor-Dunn might be the crucial component needed to add inventiveness and goal-scoring prowess in the upcoming campaign.
Charlton Athletic have been on the up under Nathan Jones.
The Addicks have not experienced a loss since Jones’ debut game in charge against Reading, and they have gone 13 games without a loss.
With Jones in charge, Charlton can now look forward to next season, which looks to be an exciting one, after escaping the relegation zone.
Since taking over, the Welshman has placed a premium on stability in an effort to guarantee Charlton’s spot in League One the next season. In his 14 games as manager, the team has given up 15 goals, as opposed to the 48 they gave up in their previous 30 games.
Though the team has prioritized defense, Jones will look to get a new number 10 to fill the void left by Charlton’s departure from the team this summer.
It has been a defense-first strategy, but Jones will want to add a new number 10 to bridge the gap between attack and defense because several of Charlton’s midfield players are expected to leave the team this summer.
With a 2-1 victory over Accrington Stanley, Mansfield’s Davis Keillor-Dunn helped the Stags secure promotion from League Two. The Englishman is clearly prepared to advance to the next level.
Charlton will have a good chance of signing Keillor-Dunn given that Mansfield will likely play in League One the following season.
However, Keillor-Dunn would be the ideal statement player for Jones’ redesigned club, since the Addicks are rising and aiming for the postseason.
Charlton should look to take advantage of Keillor-Dunn contract situation
Keillor-Dunn has been one of the standout players in League Two this season, scoring 21 goals and providing nine assists for Mansfield.
The midfielder joined Mansfield in January last year, but with his contract only running until 2025, Charlton may sense an opportunity to snap up Keillor-Dunn before he’s tied down to a long-term deal.
Mansfield will be keen to keep hold of their star midfielder, especially with the club set to embark on their first season in League One in over 20 years.
But with Keillor-Dunn having the pick of his clubs this summer, Charlton will feel they can offer the 26-year-old progression in his career as they look to mount a challenge for the play-offs.
Charlton set for midfield reinforcement
Tyreeq Bakinson, Louie Watson, Panutche Camara, and Lewis Fiorini, the Charlton loan signings, are all scheduled to return to their parent clubs in the summer, and captain George Dobson has also agreed to join Hungarian side Fehérvár FC upon his contract expiration this summer, leaving Jones with limited options.
Keillor-Dunn would be a fantastic addition to Charlton’s midfield, giving them a creative spark and an attacking midfielder or number 10 who can score goals. Charlton is probably going to be strengthening their midfield.
Although Conor Coventry and Karoy Anderson are excellent choices for central midfield, the Addicks team seems to be missing an attacker who can start ahead of them.
Jones intends to press
